Godmanchester, the site of an ancient town, was once occupied by a Roman Military Station.

Nowadays it is a treasure-house of varied architectural styles, from the homeliness of old timber and thatch to clear lines of Georgian facades.

Huntingdon, a small but busy town, is the land of Oliver Cromwell Lord Protector of England, Samuel Pepys, the diarist, William Cowper, the poet and Queen Catherine of Aragon, wife of King Henry VIII.

A short walk will take you to the local pub and continental style supermarket where your self-catering requirements will be taken care of along with a daily paper.
